Last week I was visiting one of the many book blogs I have started frequenting, and I noticed on the blog roll that someone had a post titled "The Words I Would Say" by Sidewalk Prophets (those of you who are regular visitors of Music Monday may recall a few weeks ago I shared this song). Of course I made a quick visit to see who else was enjoying this terrific music, (great minds and all that!!) and I ended up here at Woven By Words, a blog written by Mimi AKA bigguysmama. I left a comment about the song and was pleasantly surprised to receive an email that I had a new comment here at SBG from the lovely blog owner I had just visited. Indulge me while I share the last comment she left, on my Music Monday~The Words I Would Say post:

I LOVE this song! I keep hearing it. I hope the radios don't over play it! My other recent favorite is in the similar vein of reminding girls to remember whose they are: A More Beautiful You by Jonny Diaz!! Praying our girls remember how beautiful they are in their hearts and that they know their beauty stems from the Lord, their Maker!
Blessings,
Mimi
A woman after my heart! I immediately found the song she mentioned on Tangle and listened and watched and cried, and for a moment questioned God as to why no one shared words like this with me when I was fourteen and so desperately needed to hear them. My heart breaks to see so many young ladies that are just crying out for attention, looking in all the wrong places, just like I did... I pray that every young girl hears this song and finds contentment in the arms of God, the one who truly loves them.
This is why I blog! As always I am grateful you have joined me today, thanks for your comments and your links (at the bottom of this post), enjoy A More Beautiful You by Jonny Diaz.
Watch on YouTube
Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn’t straight her body isn’t fake
And she’s always felt overweight
Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are
There could never be a more beautiful you
Don’t buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you
Little girl twenty-one the things that you’ve already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you’ve got a man but he’s got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead
Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there’s a man whose love is true
And he’ll treat you like the jewel you are
So turn around you’re not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It’s not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who’s strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you’ll see through the eyes of a little girl
Now it's your turn, grab the button and linkup!

Shawntele,
This is a great song and one our young girls need to hear as opposed to the stuff society is telling them.
Thanks for sharing this and for hosting.
God Bless!
I like this song. Your linky dont like me. Lol. I will try back here shortly. Lol. Have a wonderful day.
Love the song. So many young girls need this message. I did. Thanks for hosting!
This may help people having trouble with your linky - I discovered if I use a different email other than the main one for google, it does not always work.
God bless!
Hey! Hope to get back over to listen to the songs this evening!
God bless!
Woohoo! Mr. Linky accepted me this time! I still can not get a video embedded in my posts, however. This time I tried Tangle hoping it would work as YouTube will not for me. But, apparently I have been blacklisted by all emdedding features! So, only a link is there.

Thanks Shawntele...love having all this music on my lunch hour! How beautiful to let our daughters know that they SHINE IN GOD'S GLORY, NOT man's! Thanks for giving them words none of us got at their age!
Bless you!
Re: point soup - I did not put spinach in mine tonight as my kids really do not like it and I felt like being nice. :-) I did add white beans to it - yum!

Re: Shepherd's Pie
I think you will love the Thanksgiving book! I am dishing it out in small doses, but they want me to read more each time. Love it! Yesterday we looked up the Legend of Squanto from Focus on the Family and listened to a condensed version online. A good fit!
Have a blessed day!

I agree, I would of loved to be able to hear this song when I was 14 and my view of what I needed to look like or needed to be were so distorted by what school, friends and society said.
Especially the line that says "the shameful nights hope to forget" I thank the living God for His forgiving mercy. Thank you Jesus!
In Christ

Me too Sydney, me too. Praise God!!!
