Music Monday ~ Sometimes By Step

You can learn a lot about people from hearing the music they listen to, and each week I hope you learn just a bit more about me from the music I share.

Last night while lying in bed I was going over the list of things I needed to do today, and I heard a small voice say, "What about me?" I continued gong over my list of things and again I kept hearing a voice, "What about me?" I had an 'ah ha' moment. You see, I work very hard at getting done all the things on my list each day, and the one thing that gets put to the side is my time with God. I do my daily bible reading and bible study also, but it has just been another thing on my to-do list. Not anymore, God is not something that I can check off on my list each day! No, He is the one thing I can include in all that I do, every word from my mouth, every action I take can include Him. This is a new concept for me, although my faith is strong my walk is weak. With that I invite you to listen to my music selection today, Sometimes By Step by Bebo Norman & Rich Mullins; this is the song I woke to this morning and I will be singing it all day.

Sometimes the night was beautiful
Sometimes the sky was so far away
Sometimes it seemed to stoop so close
You could touch it but your heart would break
Sometimes the morning came too soon
Sometimes the day could be so hot
There was so much work left to do
But so much You'd already done

Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

Sometimes I think of Abraham
How one star he saw had been lit for me
He was a stranger in this land
And I am that, no less than he
And on this road to righteousness
Sometimes the climb can be so steep
I may falter in my steps
But never beyond Your reach

Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
(Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
(Sometimes the night . . .)
(Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
(. . . Was beautiful)
(Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
(So beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
(Oh God, you are my God)
And I will follow You all of my days
(Oh God, you are my God)
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
(Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
(Sometimes the night . . .)
And I will follow You all of my days

Beautiful Shawntele. I love this song.

I heard a talk a while back that has stuck with me. In addressing how to be sure that we are walking the right path, doing what we should be doing, a speaker said, "The main thing, is to make the main thing the main thing."

Sounds convoluted, I know, but you get it, right? Above all else, the most important thing we can do each day is to remember Him and to follow His ways. Everything else will fall into place if we do this one, most important, main thing.

My music share for the day isn't nearly as uplifting. The song is awesome, but the post and video are mainly just funny.

OH my what a great reminder this morning! That I don't put God on my "to do list". YIKES I have often fallen into that trap! What a beautiful message and I so enjoy this song! thanks for sharing your heart with us!

Hi Shawntele,
Great video-thanks for the reminder of putting God first on our to do list.
My video is at http://daysblessings.blogspot.com/2009/08/music-mondaydevotion.html
I've changed the "openess" of my comment box- not sure if this gets in the way of leaving comments. I've posted about it on my Daughter of the King blog.Don't know if anyone has tried to comment and failed.
Anyway God Bless and thanks for hosting.

Dear Shawntele,

Thank you for visiting my blog. I am the person giving away the Rod and Staff Grammar 8 along with the Heroes of the Faith, etc. through Curriculum Clean Out.

Anyway, in order to help me decide who the winners should be I am asking that you visit my blog, www.blossomingwhereiamplanted.blogspot.com and leave a comment on each of the last three posts and become a follower.

I will be announcing the winner before midnight tonight, EST.

P. S. You are right about putting God first in our lives, not just in our "to do" list. I like and agree with the comment left by Ali.

Blessings,
Vivianna

Thanks for the link to the book list. I like to have a good variety of choices for my kids. :)

Also, just FYI - I get most of my mix recipes from a book called Make-A-Mix. It has a lot of recipes, and not just for baked goods. It's also where I get my meatball recipe and cooked chicken. There are some links under "recipes" on my blog that take you to some free sources of mix recipes, too, if you're interested,

I love that song, too - haven't heard it in a long time, though. Thanks for sharing!
And I think we all feel that way sometimes about our time with the Lord - thanks for the reminder!
