Book Notes ~ Emilie's Creative Home Organizer

Here are a few interesting tips I read in Emilie's Creative Home Organizer by Emile Barnes ©1995.

~ Before freezing fresh bagels cut them in half; they will defrost faster and can be toasted while still frozen.
~ When you are packaging hamburger ground turkey take off the meat tray and flatten the meat out, then put it in a freezer bag. It will stack better in the freezer.
~ After making pies or pastry buns, sprinkle the counter with salt; it will clean up easily.
~ Old sponges cut into squares work great for covering drainage holes in flowerpots.

Here is one that I personally found quite icky ~ wash your face and brush your teeth while you're in the shower. Okay I get the face washing, but I really find the thought of teeth brushing in the shower quite gross!!!

Sorry - I'm not buying Emile's book. Cutting the bagels before freezing dries them out faster, I buy my beef in tubes from the local meat market just down the road, I have this nifty blade thing that I bought years ago that takes the dough goo right off the counter, I don't use kitchen sponges and brushing your teeth in the shower wastes water.

Thanks for sharing this, though, now I know that's not the book for me. :-)

Hi Lounge Sisters,
Libraries are wonderful things! Laurie, I think you need to revamp Emilie's book!

And wasting water or not, I am with you, Shawtele, no brushing teeth in the shower - ick!
